The design of the basket was not very constrained since only two things have to be assured: it must be possible to score and to sense if the player scored or missed. The second part is achieved by positioning a sensor behind the basket, which accounts for the hole in the back part of the piece. The biggest dimensions so that the sensor always detects if the ball goes through the basket were chosen, as a way of allowing for some more freedom in the catapult regulation. Since it resulted in a complicated shape without structural impact, the most viable option was to 3D print it.

Two small holes were made in the basket, at the sides of the sensor. This allowed for a reliable and non-definitive way of mounting the basket to the wall using screws.
