Brachiation bot

TEAM1 - Project - Brachiationbot - 2012-2013


The project is done by BRUFACE students as a part of the Mechatronics course given by Prof. Dr. Ir. Bram Vanderborght and supervised by Ir. Victor Grosu.


"Brachiation is a form of arboreal locomotion in which primates swing from tree limb to tree limb using only their arms. The idea is to make a robot with servomotors that can do such a motion."


The maximum budget for this project is 50 euros.


The goal of this project is to be able to make a brachiation bot swinging from limb to limb. To reach this goal, there are five main steps to be done.

Softwares and machine tools

In this project, some tools were used for its realization :

  • "MATLAB" for the simulation.
  • "ARDUINO" software.
  • "EAGLE" for the electronical design.
  • "INVENTOR" for the mechanical design.
  • "3D PRINTER & LASER CUTTER" for manufacturing parts.
